In our store we close the produce doors at 9PM. It used to be 10 but Loss Prevention told us to close them earlier.

Vast majority of stores do that to funnel customers where they can watch them better to deter stealing, since there are less people there to do it. Does it help? Dont look at me.

Yeah we close one set of doors at 9pm too, even though the doors are close to each other so it really doesn't make too much sense.

Yep, common loss prevention technique as Grey said. Thieves are less likely to steal if they have a higher chance of being seen/caught.
