Self Checkout is 15 items or less. Im trying to understand why do my managers keep saying pull the line even if I already have a line or the people to pull have way over 15 items. Its some illiterate customers that come in our store, period ! I dont have time to babysit one customer because they cant understand self checkout. Then, I had multiple customers say some sh!t like if you pull me over here you should scan my stuff I have to scan coupons, get cigarettes, run checks, check ids, and void items off for a customer, void transactions, split payments, watch for thieves. I have never seen my front end management or supervisors stand at SCO for an hour or more during a busy period. They know they cant do none of the SH!T, they ask me to do for anyday.
They might be doing it so they don't get penalized with QueVision. It's been awhile since I worked on the front end, but I don't think self check out is monitored the same way the regular registers are, where it's supposed to be no more than 1 + 1. So, if you're out of queue on express or a regular register, the front end gets dinged with a dip but if you've got a line at self scan, then I don't think 1 + 1 applies or dips occur.
QueVision was one of the reasons I switched departments because it makes the front end suck even more than it already does.
to be fair, if you pull them out of a real register, you should be scanning their stuff. there was a reason why they picked a real register vs self check out.
when you pull start their order.. if there is someone else that needs help, tell your current customer one moment if its a quick fix.. if it's not then just finish with current customer.
I'm curious. Is that an official rule at your store? Like are there official signs, like on the light box of each Uscan? Or a big sign hanging from the ceiling, or something? If you asked a store manager, would they say yes, self checkout is officially 15 items or less?
If you were to ask a store manager at my store, they'd say no, it's not an official rule. And there are no such signs on our self checkouts. But some of our SCO attendants like making it so by putting these tacky paper signs on the Uscans, "5 items or less," in order to tackle theft.
I just don't understand why it's not an official rule at my store. Cause while the other attendants would want me to tell customers that, I'd be lying to them, and if they were to ask a manager, they'd get a different answer.

Stfu do YOUR job and quit crying about it like a little bitch. It gets so old when us managers have to step and and pick up your slack!!
Think of it this way. If self-checkout were truly 15 items or less, why would they put a big carousel of bags there and a shelf above it to put your filled bags? I've gone through self-checkout many times with a full cart. A lot of people do.

The assistant store manager told me self checkout is 15 items or less, he has worked in multiple divisions, but my front end managers think differently! I hate pulling the line especially because its irritating when I pull a basket then they say I have got to do 2+ transacations or they may bring someone else with them. F!ck what a manager does which isnt sh!t seems like your a Kroger slave that couldnt find a better job because of your qualifications
I had to leave the store I was at back in 2013 because I got tired of the management being tough on certain front end employees. It was harassment, a lot of things they said dont do they were doing so management at times can be hypocritical and lazy dirtbags.
SCO is any size order a customer wants to scan. Originally back in the day, SCO was introduced to eliminate express registers. Over the years express registers added back, and technology changed to allow bigger orders. With CHEC, all items do not need to be left on the scale to the end of the order, so literally any size order would be allowed (its up to the customer to decide).
It's tough to pull customers out of line. If it's so busy you need to pull customers out of line, then it's probably so busy that SCO doesn't have any free machines. Pulling people out of line to stand in line for SCO tends to really piss them off, and you can't give them cuts without pissing off the other waiting customers. And then if you have to scan their order, all of the other customers start screaming for help or taking their orders out the door . But if I don't at least pretend to pull over any customers, than management gets pissy.
My favorite scenario is when management makes me take (or sends me) a Civil war widow with a large order, tells me to ring up their stuff, and then gets on the intercom halfway through the order to tell me to pull more customers.
Usually, it just results in me pacing back and forth a quarter of the way to the closest checkout lane because if it's that busy, I need to clear booze, press "Pay Now", or press the card button every 10 seconds anyways.
Holy crap, I wish SCO was 15 items or less. First, it's a waste of our time to take large orders through. Customers average what, about 5 IPM at SCO? Possibly less than 1 if they have much produce. A good cashier at a checkout lane should be able to do around 30. If a customer has a whole cart, it's going to take 10 or 15 minutes to check out at SCO, whereas a cashier would have them out in a couple minutes.
The other part is that a lot of customers take large orders through because it's so much easier to steal. Once bags start going back into that cart, it's over. And then there's cart exchanges. I haven't seen a single time when items haven't started teleporting between carts. You can't watch suspicious customers for 10 or 15 minutes straight, and they know this.

LOL sure you are. You cant even do the very simple front end duties. The only list I see you on is the sh!t list.
