I'm a former Kroger employee but my husband still works there. I was only part time and never got insurance so I'm not entirely sure how to go about getting the information. My husband is next to useless when it comes to admin stuff, so I'm coming to you. What website do I consult to find out about insurance information? I need to add our two children to his health insurance plan.
I'd call his union first and ask if he's eligible to add children to his insurance. They will tell you what are the requirements and you'll know if your husband qualifies.
Open enrollment for insurance opens November 1st, your husband should be getting insurance forms in a mail soon. You can just wait for the forms and once they arrive, you can see if there's an option to add the kids to his insurance.
In my case it depends on hours worked, it should not be a problem if your husband is full time or works more than 30 hours/week. But that depends on union rules. Ours you have to work at least 32 hours/week to be able to add a spouse or kids to your insurance.
Depending on your household income you're probably better off getting insurance through Medicaid (at your local welfare office). I was able to have Kroger Insurance and State Insurance at the same time while working for Kroger. The Kroger one can be stupid expensive.
