Flash sale on angel food cakes
Permalink

We're having a flash sale on angel food cakes this coming Tuesday.  They're going to be $2.99.  They sent us 20 cases.  We are not going to sell 240 angel food cakes in one day, especially when it's not all that good of a sale price.  It'll probably take us until after Christmas to get rid of all them.

Shove some up your ass. Judging how far it is that will get rid of 82 or so

What division are you? I haven't heard anything about a flash sale. In my store we probably would sell a ton if this was on the weekend, but not a flash sale on a Tuesday...

Just lower the prices even more if they dont all sell. You have until Christmas? If you lower the price below $2.99, say to $1.00, then you may sell all cases.

Flash Sales are not even work the time and effort.......has anyone seen any real "uplift" in sales because of them?

They seem to either piss off customers when we run out, or stick departments with a huge amount of backstock when they don't sell, and everytime the ice cream goes on a flash sale the freezer goes down and they have to empty the entire thing. Plus we don't get any extra hours to deal with the sale so the already understaffed store is given that much more stress.

What I love most are when I see the memos praising the stores that moved the most product as if they accomplished something. It's always the same exact stores solely because they're the biggest in the area.

Actually, it is the bigger stores in the more suburban areas.....and in reality its never the bigger stores in the more higher end areas.  If you noticed most Flash Sales/Weekend 2 Day sales cater to the none health items, you will never see a higher end/large volume (health concerned) stores on the top of these list.

The only one i've seen recently that surprised the hell out of me was the pudding cake 4 day sale. In Cincy division, 836 Seibenthaler, a store in Dayton, won that one in a landslide. This isn't a super big store either. But apparently people in Dayton love pudding cakes!! My store did ok on it but they blew the marketplace stores away.
