I find it funny how they say "store managers have the discretion to provide stools to cashiers on a case-by-case basis."
****ING STOOLS. Where in a walmart have you ever seen a stool? Same place you see it in a Kroger - step stools used for stocking. Walmart would rather just fire you as a cashier then provide you with a place to sit.

The thing is, in Europe, it's normal to give cashiers stools. Wouldn't they be seeing issues if there was a real danger (ex. tripping over your own stool) here? Aldi does the same, and their cashiers do plenty of work stocking and the like away from their registers-- they don't have issues either.
And one of their concerns is that cashiers might be LAZY and not work as hard if they're comfortable and not in pain? Really? I mean, I know corporate types tend to be sociopaths, but have they ever worked a real job a day in their lives?
I know I work a lot better-- and am a lot more friendly-- when I'm focused on the job and not on how much my feet and legs hurt. And most of the cashiers at my store are constantly using painkillers to get through their shift, which isn't good for your health. Humans weren't meant to stand in one place for eight hours straight without moving or leaning-- I feel a lot better physically after a shift on SCO than I do after a shift on register, just because I can move around on SCO.
I mean, sitting too long isn't great either, but why not offer the option to sit or stand as one prefers, or even do something like standing until your legs get tired, then sitting in a stool for a while, then standing again...
