I've worked at Kroger for two years now, and I've worked in quite a few departments, mostly front end and now meat. I've also helped out in clicklist, produce, and grocery. I personally prefer meat, but I was wondering what y'all thought.
The easiest department in my store has to be Kitchen Place. That's where they have all the small kitchen gadgets, small appliances, and dinnerware. It's not like other departments where you have to constantly refill empty shelves. I mean how often do you have a run on things like crockpots or oven mitts?
Does Kitchen Place get any hours? Seems like you'd face and straighten the displays, set out a single plate, and be done for the week within an hour. Seems like it's also a risky department, as my local store yanked theirs out for a Murray's Cheese.
I liked offsite fuel center. The thing about the fuel center is that it seems like it's designed for 1.5 people to run.
Onsite fuel center is hell on earth since you can never, ever, catch up and are always behind on everything (by design). Additionally, this is treated as all your fault, and you don't get breaks since everybody but you knew it sucks, won't come out there, and won't get training.
Offsite fuel center is great because everything is exactly the same, except there's two people out there. You only need to put in 3/4 effort to get everything done. Work any harder than that, and you look like a rock star. And it's a nice variety of work. You get to walk around, check the pumps, clean things, stock things, and ring up customers. Dealing with customers really sucks, but it's only a portion of your day.
Receiving is probably the easiest. My friend snagged it after doing diary manager. You only do bread and some DSD orders, managing the receiving room and that's it. Drug GM is second, Third Frozen. ONLY if you have another guy. If you don't it's pretty much hell.
