You know the 7 minute grace period, right? Let's say you clock out for your break and then come back, just one minute past the 7 minute grace period. Does that count as an automatic write up, much the same way being late to start your shift would be?

I don't know! I'm not really sure if they care about that 1 min when on your break or lunch. I guess if they didn't like you or was just trying to find a way to get you fired they could give you warnings and write you up, but I don't think they really care. If they did there would be so many people wrote up every day and there would be almost no employees.

Had this discussion with my back up that used to be a ACSM a few days ago.

My opinion is a tardy is a tardy whether it is from clocking in for the shift, break or lunch.

She explained to me that there is no flag for them from break and lunch so no one really keeps track of them.

Keep in mind, under my contract, we can take an hour lunch if we want and let someone know ahead of time.  Lunch is unpaid.  Breaks are paid.

It would need to be pointed out to a manager so they can pull up punches to find them.

There is a flag for clocking in late for the shift that someone can pull a report for daily.

That was a ridiculously over-worded way of saying it's ok to be a **** off. ---And no, this isn't a troll post. Someone with a work ethic.

Wouldnt the time clock just clock you out for a half hour break (and dock your pay) if you went over?

It would.  A 23 minute paid break automatically becomes a 30 minute unpaid lunch.

Being late can get an automatic write-up????  PLEASE.     Nonsense.   Not at my Kroger, anyway.  Some people can be late hundreds of times .............. 90% of the time, and nothing happens...............they are applauded and lauded as great workers.

(This is not a troll post!)

Does that reflect on the number of hours worked when you do an inquiry on the time clock?

This is true. 2 over night guys are usually late every night. One of them is always 20 to 25 mins late. yet nothing ever gets said...

Yeah, what? At our Kroger we've got people who are late 15-30 minutes every single day, and nothing gets said. People who take 20 minute breaks and 40 minute lunches are a dime a dozen too.

I am not as sure about breaks at every store but at my store, they don't care about either unless you are front end
