I should've applied for the Clicklist supervisor position...

So my store has been without a clicklist supervisor for a couple weeks and today i found out they gave the supervisor position to the lady who just became the lead a couple weeks ago. This lady has one of the worst attitudes in the store and is bringing down the morale of the whole department and i feel like she's going to tank the whole dept, but i guess no one else applied for the position.

If i would have known i could have had a chance at it, i would've applied, lol... my friend got the supervisor position in another store and is leaving soon, she told me that i should just wait for this lady to bomb out and then apply for the position, so i can do better than she did and look amazing, lol.

I don't mean to ever assume the worst about someone but i'm like how did this happen?

Waitaminute, you didn't know about it? Going by your own words here, it sounds like it was an inside job. In which case your friend there was pre hand picked, and it wouldn't have mattered if you applied. See it all the time.

As for her being a bitch, well, that seems to be what corporate America prefers now.

Yeah my friend who got the position at another store definitely wasn't predetermined to get it, she had to fight for it because there were several people that interviewed for that one. But the lady who got it at our current store was just handed the position which we find extremely odd.

I feel for those in your clicklist that are going to have to bear the burden of dealing with her. And if you're not the lead in your department I hope you get it. It might put your foot in the door for other positions. I've seen similar deals happen where someone is just handed a new position or promotion and they don't know what they're doing, they already have a snotty attitude, or they were nice but let it go to their head.

Yeah I'm currently the bakery manager in my store but since the supervisor position is a salary position it is definitely a pay increase for me and would open the door if I choose to ever become a co-manager. I'm not sure yet if that's the route I would want to take though but I am starting to consider it. I guess I will wait and see how it plays out. I hate to sound negative because I want people to do well I just don't see her being a very good supervisor because she is not motivating her team right now. I know that they are understaffed but when the old Supervisor was there he knew how to help them with moral and they never had late orders.

As long as you're okay with working between 40 and 50ish hours a week and no longer getting paid overtime, then it's not a bad idea if you want to use it as a stepping stone to move up in the company/get a potentially better position at another company since you'll have management experience. ClickList Supervisors are supposed to work ten hour days, or longer if need be, but mine typically works less than ten hours a day. ClickList Supervisors also make less money than co-managers do, so it may not be a huge pay bump for you when you factor in the number of hours you'll have to put in. Also, taking the position means you're on call, so even on your days off, you may get a call/text to come in by the store manager or a co-manager and even if not asked to come in, you'll still get calls and text messages on your days off, sometimes frequently, sometimes not so much.

I've been "nudged" more than once in the direction of becoming a lead with the intention of making me a ClickList Supervisor at some point beyond that by some folks in my district but I've politely and respectfully declined each time. Don't want it.

Its ultimately up to the Store Manager on who he/she wants. You still have to interview with both the Store Manager and the District HR Manager.

Clicklist Supervisor pay isnt worth it honestly. Youre far below comanagers pay wise even if you hit your bonus. And its on par with Department head pay while working more hours.

Ive been on both sides. I was a Lead who just recently got promoted to supervisor. I applied to a different store and got it. Clicklist turnover rate is high, so its very important as a supervisor to have a well trained Lead who can handle your off days. Which speaking of youre probably only will be able to take off two days out of tues-thurs, since its the least busiest days. And if your lead cant handle it expect to be called in.

When I was a Lead my supervisor every now and then would take weekends off but would basically schedule everybody on those days. Meaning youd be short on help during the week which could lead to some really long days...

If the department is ran smoothly you should have barely any interaction with store managers. The ones at my store always come back to hide out and use my computer/printer paper. Or to sign the store walk sheets, or to bitch about OSAT.

What Im currently doing is using the job as a stepping stone. Im going to ride it out and then apply for the management program.
Kroger is desperate for managers that they increased the starting pay by a lot...
