Keypads all over the store?

Is anyone elses store doing this crap? They installed keypads for access points on the grocery back dock, the front end accounting room, pharmacy, etc, etc. Only department heads, backups and store managers were given codes and theyre not to be shared, left unarmed, or to be used without the manager supervising activity. So, now office helpers and whatnot cant do any loans/pickups, check for receipts, put tills away, without the floor supervisor coming over and opening the door. I cant wait for holidays! Grocery clerks are steamed because now it takes even longer because a stupid co has to come unlock the door for deliveries. They had already started this process with a key back there, but now its even worse with extra steps. Not sure how it works for pharmacy but everybody feels like Kroger is telling them theyre not trustworthy unless theyre management. I can already see the problems that are going to happen due to this stupid new policy. ASMs are gonna be even more pissed off going  in 100 directions, and front end supervisors will barely be on the floor. At my store they sometimes have relief workers doing floors and guess what no code for them. Our pharmacy doesnt even close until 11pm on weekdays, so if there is no overnight store manager (the closing ASM leaves at 10 usually) the RX tills would have to stay put I guess! I was at a store with a keypad for doors but they gave out the code to everyone that was, you know, trusted to be in the vicinity. Thats kind of why and how they pick who they pick to do things in secure areas. Holidays are going to be so much fun! Apparently every manager got told  If you share your code, youre fired.

Naw...See, you don't get it! ENACTING STUPID NEW POLICIES are about the only thing Kroger knows how to do well...They've been doing it well for many years! Forgetting about those said policies a year later is ALSO something Kroger knows how to do well! Failure at it's finest! biggrinwink Heck, Thomas Edison had to fail 1,000 times before coming up with the lightbulb...This from a man whose teachers said he was "too stupid to learn anything" and was considered a "non-productive" employee at the first two jobs he worked at! Interesting how we know who HE is, but his teachers have all but been forgotten! Kroger, OTOH, thinks we're "too stupid to know better" and continues to enact failing policies that don't deliver as promised and are obvious wastes of time, money and effort...What do you expect from a company with more dollars than sense? If the good policies were SUCCESSFUL, they would STILL be around, but having been in the retail industry a time or two...or THREE, I've seen MANY ideas come and go...I don't expect that to change any time soon, either...

Just like the ocean, there will always be new "waves", too..They will come in like a tsunami, but eventually die down and roll back out to sea where they belong after they destroy everyone's morale in their path...New waves will replace the old ones...What else is new?!! Those waves will also die down eventually...It's the nature of retail, my friends!yawn

Oh, and it's one thing to enact a policy that the EMPLOYEES don't like...Enact a policy that the CUSTOMERS don't like, and wait for the negative comments to head your way!evileye

In any case, just wait for your store to become "the most chaotic place on earth"...Then, you will slowly see these pads phase out with something new taking their place...Happens every time!

We had a few keypads installed in our store for a couple months now. None of them are hooked up to a security system at all. Think it is probably another useless deterrent like those dumb "security to Sector 69" pages

In reality Asset Protection has been going wild with new procedures and installation of new equipment. Yes, Asset Protection is important, but spending $$$$ knowing most stores will not implement the process or making the process too complicated is not smart. In reality, Risk Management/Asset Protection kinda switched from Customer focused to Associated focused, but doesn't understand most associates are cutting corners because their list keeps getting longer.

So they are installing keypads to set alarms on doors, but the doors still have locks and need keys? Why not install keypads that actually unlock the door and are hooked up to the alarm system? If you cant enter without a key, the door cant be opened without using the procedure/alarm. Everyone wants to implement the easy/cheap fix, but it always costs more in the long run! I'm surprised Asset Protections is still allowing stores to be designed with multiple entrances/exits, along with entrance/exit far away from associates. Marketplaces normally have 2 entrances, but in the mornings, NO one is near the 2nd entrance/exit for hours.
