Welcome to Kroger, Land Of The Idiots! Damn, I don't know why you guys can't see how stupid some of these managerial behaviors are!!! It is a problem in retail that I see far too often!!! It's like this now, it was like this 30 years ago and frankly, I'm getting bored of the whole thing!
And every time I log onto this site, someone has a similar story about one of these managers...No one ever does anything about it, though...Not to get too political, but...Heck, we can't even rein in a President for doing and saying stupid stuff and even blowing up like a 5-year old kid over something petty...
We are living in some rough times, my friends, and it's bound to get worse before it gets better...
Personally, though, and I've seen this...If anyone, esp. a store manager, gives you a load of BS like this, walk away and don't even look at them...I don't care if they stare! That's THEIR problem! I've seen department managers just walk away and not even look back when this kind of abuse starts...The store manager's behavior??? THAT'S on them,. not on you!!! Let 'em complain! You're still in a UNION company, which is one reason why the Union is still important!
Besides, if they're doing this in front of customers, now what kind of impression are they trying to make??? Do they not think it makes the store look bad??? Whatever happened to "praise in public, correct in private"??? If I was in one of these stores and I saw that, I would say something...If they don't like what I have to say and don't want my business, well, there's plenty of other places I can spend my money!
Secretly record ANYTHING and EVERYTHING NEGATIVE said to you. Have your Union (if you joined up) and HR Rep have a listen
There is NO need to take abuse for that. Be forewarned: they may retaliate and make your time thier EXTREMELY DIFFICULT as a way of getting back at you if they get in trouble. Hopefully they are not 'buddy buddy' with management. Hope it works out in your favor. Good Luck.
Its funny how all these co managers and store managers got into their positions but have NO people experience at all
As a former retail manager let me assure you: there is a huge push from the higher ups to act that way towards people. It's all about domination and control and boosting the profit margin.
I have to say, the reason why I quit is because the SM at the store i worked at was verbally abusing me in front of customers. I dknt even remember what it was about I was so mad, I told him that i was done with the convoy and i walked away.you have a right to say "I am not going to sit here and take this" basically.
I now work for the company who does the resets for Krogers. I have been into my old store and the SM has complained about me to my boss, lying and saying I was doing too much talking and not enough work and all that ****. My boss asked me about it and I told him that the only talking I do is to my co worker there when we work together on something, or to the employees when I am working in their section so they know what I am doing .
All the talking I do to my friends who work there is after I am clocked out for the day
