This is a career? Really?

They now have a little stand at the entrance of one of our doors. On that stand is a table with some pamphlets and a poster with this picture on it.

You can turn it into a career, if you really want to. Kroger is actually hurting pretty bad right now for department heads and co-managers because very few people want to take such a position because they know the deck is stacked way, way against them, but for those that are willing, there is less competition nowadays to apply for such positions with even relatively little experience. There's a guy at my store that's a co-manager and he's just 22, for example. Once you've got a co-manager position, if you know the right people in your district, it's possible go higher in the company in, again, a relatively short period of time as I've watched it happen. One guy I know went into the MD-1 training program, became a co-manager and within like a year and half became a product coordinator in my district. Similar story with this one woman I worked with, although she's a human resources coordinator in my district. Very fast progression.

All true, and yes, you can potentially win the Powerball Lottery..

But.

The reason people are shunning these positions is because the $$ : insane work ratio is nuts, and this so-called advancement business is and will always be based 100% on favoritism (whether that's based on personal or political motivations). ~

I mean... it can be if you want it to be. I know people who are around my age going into co-management, clicklist supervisor, etc. It's not the most glamorous career sure but once you move up, the pay actually isn't all that bad.

From what I've been told Kroger isn't looking for anymore Leads, Managers, Back-ups etc. They are hurting so bad for business that they aren't promoting anyone, right now. of course this could've been a lye, but that is what i was told. I'm just waiting for them to close.

I've been working for 3 years and already full time. Would have had it my first 2 years but I had medical leave my first year and turned it down twice my second year due to finishing school. Just stop calling off and accept every call in / overtime, it adds up quick.
