Nah, it's the employees too. At my store majority of the employees steal. What shocks me is how kroger doesn't care that they are being ripped off. I've never seen a retailer be totally okay with being stolen from until I came to this store.
Thing is, they have your name, your address, and your work schedule. You are easy pickings, and you probably aren't even going to try to stab anyone with a drug needle.

Yeah, we basically have teams of homeless come in with three backpacks each and rolling luggage. It's honestly amazing. A cashier with a pack of gum? WHERE THE **** IS YOUR GODDAMN RECEIPT, YOU PIECE OF ****!!?!?!?
I dunno, my store doesn't seem to give a ****. I mean, yeah, if they suspect you of stealing, they'll investigate. A few months ago they fired this one girl cause she'd been secretly stealing like a couple thousand bucks worth of stuff over the course of a few months. But other than that, our management doesn't hound us for receipts of stuff we bought or anything like that. We're treated like adults.
Employee theft is a problem at our store as well. While customers do their fair of stealing, the employees know exactly what to do to maximize the anount taken. We've even had money taken right out of the cash booth safe.
they do seem to worry more about employee theft than customers. They've recently implemented a new policy that all employee purchases must have a sticker attached to it--trouble is I'm not taking time from my precious break to get a sticker. If they suspect me of stealing, they are more than welcome to watch the cameras. I don't have time to wait at Uscan.
I sometimes steal from my store from time to time. it's really easy. penny saved is a penny earned. I'm entitled to it as well

Oof. I used to be pro five finger discount back when I was a literal child, but now that I'm adult working for a store, I'm especially anti-shoplifting. Seriously not cool. You're entitled alright. You must not have cameras all over the store that would catch you in the act. Why are you even working a job you don't want or need?
