Being threaten to have full time taken away

So I'm Being threaten to have full time taken away for having a part time job at target. Store manager claims its against kroger rules (allegedly). I told him he doesn't have the right to tell me what to do in my personal life nor pays my Bills. I'm always on time, never missed a day and always finish my work to the point I get sent to a different department to help out. Called the union rep but he is on vacay.

So guys what do I do? Is this store manager nuts or are they in the right?

Most companies have a policy against also working at competitors while being employed by Kroger.  With that being said, this is what i would use to rebuttal this argument.  Kroger doesn't carry Gift Cards of competitor companies in their stores.  If that is also true, then why does Kroger sell Target gift cards?  Target is not a direct competitor of Kroger.  They are not a grocery store. They are mainly a big box retail store similar to Walmart.

It's true. All retailers have this rule, and you're not arguing your way out of it.

Tell your boss he's right, let him forget about it, then do what you need to do.

In the future, KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT ABOUT YOUR PERSONAL BIZZ.

Ok. But to explain things further, an associate from the store I work took a picture of me and sent it to them which is how they found it but thank you for the ~useless~ 2 cents.

Ty.  Wouldn't of said anything at all.  Don't tell anyone what you do outside of work.

Working at another FOOD store is a conflict of interest. I don't think Target sells food. Contact your union rep pronto!

Target isn't considered competition. We don't sell the same items Target sells. They can bump you down to part time if you haven't worked there 5 years or more, if you haven't worked more than 12 weeks at 40 hours a week, or if other have seniority and they don't h. ave the hours to give everyone 40 hours

They sell a little food. Their grocery section is basically a line of aisles along one side of the store at the Target near me, similar to the positioning and relative space taken up by the bakery/produce department at a typical grocery store. I wouldn't call them a proper grocery store or direct competition for Kroger any more than I'd call a gas station minimart competition. The selection is limited and pretty narrowly focused at their main demographic, and at least in my area the prices are just a little higher than the normal grocery stores.

Practically no one is going to stop by Target to buy their food for the week, but they might decide to pick up cereal and fruit snacks while they're there so they don't have to make another stop. (Which I guess would be competition, but by that logic almost anything is competition. I mean, Staples sells office supplies, Kroger has a tiny little school/office/electronics section....)
