Big announcement coming 2/20?

Anyone out there heard anything about a big announcement coming on February 20th 2019? Managers signing a non-disclosure agreement when they were told the news? Sounds ominous!

It might be a realignment of Divisions, or just an announcement of something they are introducing. I can't see them doing anything major before they report the yearly earning which occurs on 3/7/2019. If anything they might want to announce a costs saving realignment to soften the blow of earnings. I wouldn't think its that important, if Store MGMT was told something like the before the big announcement, they just wanted MGMT to know the basics to answer questions. If anything major was happening, everyone would be clueless until it was reported, specially people in the stores.

Im  in the Smiths division and everyone is tight lipped. All Ihe heard is that the pharmacy is going to be effected the most. If it involves a nda with management its going to be something that effects the stock price. Like maybe a merger or aquisition

I cant see them making any changes to the core business, RX, would be core. If anything, I can see them doing a "strategic partnership" with Walgreens if anything to expand the "express" concept. But normally if all Store Management has already been told about something big coming up, it effects the stores in a more direct manner.

True, but RX is a core business.  If you have kept track of the recent divestitures, they are all non-core and didn't effect "normal" stores or kept a strategic link.  If Store MGMT was told something prior to the announcement, its big, but not too big.  A company is not going to announce anything too extreme before reporting fiscal results, unless they are seeking to get ahead or something.  If anything it might be something to do with "Restock"..... If "Restock" was successful, that would be a good thing to announce before earnings.  If wanting to celebrate one achievement, and have momentum going into another isn't a bad things (get you into multiple news cycles".  It might be just announcing another discount or price cuts also!

True and the Walgreens buying Krogers pharmacies rumors have been going around long enough that if there was substance to it that it probably would have happened by now. However, Im wondering if its not funadmentally changing the business why the silence. For example one of the ASM today said It is a big change to our company, and the pharmacy is going to have the most impact, that Customers arent going to be happy, and it might work and it might not. Also over the last few years, even up to this point Kroger has invested a lot of money into the health and wellness part of the business. From buying a specalty pharmacy to buying up many Shopko pharmacies. So what is it?

Might just be more limited hours, Pharmacists are $$$, why have 24/7 RX's when being open from 8am-8pm is the bulk of the business.  Hell, maybe all RX will be processed with Central Fill, no more " Ready in about an hour"..... What Food Retailers don't have their own RXs? (Target doesn't count)...?

No one wants to say anything at our store and for good reason. Our store seems to be the "capital of rumors" and as such by the time it makes its way back to management our store just might be a "Stargate Portal," or some other "time travel or otherworldy dimensional portal."

[s]Yay, Freedom at last[/s] If there is one, probably some new thing or other. It would be weird for Walgreens to buy the Pharmacy, which I wonder if it could affect customers... I used to use Walgreens as my pharmacy but my insurance wont let me so I had to switch all my Rx's to Kroger, so I dont know if it might affect more people, that could potentially be bad for the pharmacy because of that kinda thing.

the pharmacy, stated is a core business. A good pharmacy can do about 20% of a stores sales. It brings in a lot of traffic and while there are issues in the pharmacy business right now divesting the pharmacies isnt the answer. Also Kroger is the fourth Of fifth largest pharmacy chain in the country so selling the pharmacy business would face intense scrut from the FTC for antitrust conserns. However some sort of partnership or change in management is possible.

All Ill say is it has nothing to do with anything weve mentioned. I know people want to know, but its in your best interest to find out at your stores meetings.

They also signed contracts for 2 more automated warehouses.   Go figure, the employees built it, made it profitable, and continue to maintain it on a skeleton crew, while the laziest, most useless, and most immoral of the company, reap the benefits on your hard work. Expect to train your replacement, then promptly be fired with no compensation.  But krogers will tell the news they compensated you.  Who will argue?

Quit now, like i did, don't let them use you to the last drop.  With the amount of people at store level on the brink of retirement? you think the executive up in his ivory tower will let some trash like you stop his bonus?  He needs that for his summer home. Your family's health and life be damned.

Today's the 20th, so was there any big news or is this as fake as i suspected it'd be?

It appears that the "big" news, which was actually announced yesterday, was/is that Kroger and Ocado announced 2 more automated warehouses: 1 in central-Florida, 1 somewhere in the mid-Atlantic. While it is a pretty big deal for Kroger to finally have a presence in Florida: Floridians will be able to order Kroger products from the warehouse, without Kroger actually having any traditional brick and mortar stores there; the announcement was a bit of a let down.

STR MGMT would not have been informed of this prior to the release, it has no direct impact on stores. I'm guessing the news was postponed...if anything spread companies want to speed out the news to keep in the headlines.

This is what i would do then..."train" my 'replacement' barely enough info to get the job done. That way when the screw up and keep screwing up, I'll still have my job.
