All the departments are easy once you are properly trained if that is what you are looking for.  You just have to figure out what you will enjoy.

Meat, Deli, and Bakery are service departments.  You need to be familiar with the products, health codes, clean well and enjoy talking to customers.

Productivity is a matter of learning where everything goes and organizing the product coming off the trucks.

Produce is a lot of culling to keep fresh product on the shelf.

Drug/GM is a high volume of stocking little stuff.

Grocery is a high volume of stocking constantly, rotating and conditioning.

In my experience it will depend a lot on your teammates. In our store, Deli is super busy and lots of teammates around you, if you're the night shift (in our store) you'll be doing the heavy lifting from incoming truck orders. Meat dept isn't as busy with customers, but LOTS of lifting and truck pallet moving. Our Meat Dept helps with truck unload every delivery. Also, our meat dept works alone, so not many co-workers around. It's really dependent on the store, I'd think. If you have time before you move into the position, talk to the people already in that department. Ask them what they like and dislike. Never hurts to ask.

(and I'd love proper training.. but it's my experience that it doesn't exist (in our store at least... a couple of video's, and 2 days following some one else around isn't proper training). )

I work in the deli department and ours has really gone downhill over the years. Everyone hates it. Whenever we get a new hire they generally quit.  Everyone fights to be the one not to wait on customers and will wander off to do "other tasks" leaving one person with a huge line. I'm not saying all delis are like this, but that's been my experience. I have no experience with the meat department, so I couldn't tell you how things are on that front.

We have a horrible deli and a lazy meat department, so there you go.

I enjoy meat a decent amount. Never worked in the deli. But meat is better than front end, produce, or clicklist in my opinion.
