Can manager require you to stay in department when you request transfer out or can you bump someone else because of senority. Note department I'm trying to transfer to is not full. They just can't get someone to fill this job I'm new in.
the route i would try to take is put it in writing that you want the other position and have your union steward there as witness. when they hire someone new ant try to put them in other position that you want file a grievance stating that you wanted that position then they should have to switch you guys.
What's wrong with frozen? To me, it's the best department to be in. Guarantee of 40 hours (I've only ever seen it operate as a two-man dep't), you only have three aisles to look after so it's easy work, and short of accepting brainwashing by stepping up into management it pays the best (at least in my district). If you're new, just give it time to get to know the job, take pride in doing it well (managers get off your back when you've proven that they have no reason to look over your shoulder), and soon you might find you don't completely resent it.
