if a family member died, would they care? if you were seriously injured in an accident, would they care? if you lost all your stuff in a house fire, would they care?

I did have a family member die. I had two out of my three comanagers care, and my store manager cared too. They were all concerned for me and at least showed a little compassion. The third manager, didn't even freaking ask me how i was doing or even acknowledge that i had been gone when i came back, I never did like him. All he ever did was play on his phone all day. At least he doesn't work for the company anymore. And the other managers didn't even pretend to miss him when he left.

Why should he care how you feel? Some one died so Im pretty sure he knows youre not too thrilled... get a grip people have their own problems in life. why would he notice youre gone? Youre know one special... you sound bitter cause he showed you no attention and rejected you no

I"m sure my Managers would care because they're human, but I don't have a personal relationship with my Managers, I have a work relationship.

Last location didn't give a **** about my family member deaths.  They harassed me with voice mails all damn day at the funerals.  Even though I told every one and left several written notes.  Some how they all forgot, dropped the ball and became ass holes.  One I can understand but every damn one after that.. It's obvious they didn't give a ****.

Pretty good relationship with the management. I show up every shift and do my work the best I can and never call out, so they have no reason to have any problems. Though there is my manager who doesnt like when I dont take extra shifts sometimes, but I like to keep my days off. I get its frustrating when other people call out and have to be replaced but its no reason to get mad at someone else for not coming in when they arent scheduled, my life doesnt revolve around Kroger. I used to pick up some shifts but I kinda stopped doing that because I was getting exhausted.

On the subject of managers and management in general: The way the world is going, we're in a time now where they are so rightfully despised that, like cops, you'd have to be a real piece of sh!t to even want to take that on. Consider: 90 + % of decent human beings get sh!t on as managers. Think about that fraction of nice supervisors you've dealt with, who got trampled by their superiors. When you come into the game like that, you either A. get beat down and quit, or B. turn to the Dark Side and become as vile as the system.

With all that said, I'm personally looking forward to more work place violence against these scum bags as time rolls on biggrin

If that's his level of appreciation for all the good stuff you do, respond in kind: dial it all back. DO start calling and slacking off. Not enough to get in trouble; just enough to give him the hint.----I've been through and done this exact thing, btw

Honestly, it really depends on the management team.  Some are good, some are quit worthy.

I honestly had intimate relations with one AFEM.

One FEM would "lose" paperwork as much as he could (until corporate got on his ass) if he liked you.

Others were by the book, no more no less.

Others would spin bull**** about how you weren't supposed to mark the date on the nonsense they pressured you into signing.

And others would schedule you until 12:00am six nights a week regardless of your class schedule because **** you, that's what you get.
