Odd that the Deli coordinator would do an interview for a grocery manager.  Maybe the store manager asked them to or the regular interviewer is on vacation.

Know how to use and explain CAO.  How to order and how to edit order.

Understand how to check and address the fast alert system.  Mostly night crew.  Store managers take care of it during the daytime.

In smaller stores, the Grocery maanger oversees Frozen and Dairy.

Understand 5S and key retailing and company goals.  Center store being in stock is important.  Running active backstock, residual scans, Lows & Holes scans daily and ordering strategically.  There is a lot of focus on running active backstock daily in order to stay in stock.  The main focus in our division is clicklist right now.  In stock plays an important part in that.  Understand Fast movers are supposed to be ran as needed to keep sales items full.  Active backstock is to be ran daily.  Slow movers are to be ran atleast weekly.

Don't be discouraged if you don't get the position.  Write down experience about interview to prepare for next interview if necessary.  Every one interviews differently following the same guidelines.  I got skipped 5 times for full time interviews and atleast 5 times for night grocery manager.  I don't interview well but think I know what it takes to make the department run smoothly.   I got a night manager bid because no one wanted to manage a store that was closing in 5 months to turn into a marketplace down the street.  Not knowing where they would be after that.  I live 5 minutes from the store and the store manager said I am one of the best he has ever worked with in his 30 years.  I get along well with the Day Grocery manager and we work as a team.  We are # 3 in sales in the district.  But, we were # 1 in sales for the last Saturday and Sunday.  We are gradually catching up with the other stores.
