In my first few weeks at Kroger years ago some really nice women at Starbucks used to bring us free drinks when we closed Later they got fired for it. I had some of the drinks but I had no idea that what they were doing wasn't allowed because they said they were just using up the leftover tea for the night and it happened every night so I figured it was fine. I feel bad for them.
I am one of those hyper-organized types and well, when I worked at the Fuel Centre, I would be the "guy with clipboard." After some long nights, I wound up with a couple of pens in my apron when I got home. I still have a case full of pilfered pens. Unfortunately, they are pretty cheap pens that do not jive well with my meticulous print (Papermate Write Bros and the low-grade Bic pens). Still, they remind me of the years that I spent there. Now I am in a better department.

This certainly is a grey-area. It will wind up as waste anyway...why not? I have E40'ed a number of goods that would go on the turn in the deli/bakery for sampling which is a win-win. Gives management credit, gets customers interested in our products and not only that but uses up food that was bound for the bin. Ironically, when I put cookies in the basket, I have seen our department heads, managers plus fellow employees take from it. If you can't beat them, join them I say...
