That maintenance room in the grocery back room. I can't remember there being a camera back there...
And as for Mr. Serious over here, courtesy clerks are the least screwed, in my experience. The pay is exactly what it should be (it's a job for teenagers just getting into the job market, after all), and the job itself is easy. You think it's stressful when you've got no experience elsewhere, but there are worse things in this company than annoying customers and head clerks holding you a whole fifteen minutes late. I'd say you should try working in grocery and then see if your opinion still stands, but I wouldn't wish that on anyone. Get out as fast as you can; even within the grocery store business, the competition pays more these days.

Dude. I was a courtesy clerk with this company for 14 months. That was 14 months too many in my opinion. The main reason I took the job was to bring in a paycheck, and it didn't take long for me to learn that paychecks and Kroger don't mix that well.
If you piss off the cashiers too much you might find your self without service. We have one couple that the cashiers just call a manger due to the fact they're too stupid to read a receipt and lack grocery common sense.

Dude. Where's your argument? What's your total departmental experience with this company to be able to compare? I was a CC for two years before a checking position finally opened up that I wanted (there was a lot of lifer seniority in my store). In the eight years since, I've worked Produce, GM, and every sub-department of Grocery. I stand by it not being worth much more than minimum wage. I thought it was a nice, easy job - dare I say it was even a bit fun with the variety of work. Then you get into the outer departments, dealing with everything corporate passes down the line to you and talking to managers on every level every day to hear what they're dealing with, and you learn what this company is really about.
