I do find it funny that they mostly play tired old crap, but they do make sure to keep up with Taylor Swift!
I'll admit I went out and bought an album based on a song I heard at work. Imelda May's "Mayhem." And this coming from a metal/'90s punk/underground hip-hop guy. Not sure if I'd call it a guilty pleasure; her voice, and the instrumentals, are great. They did a pretty good cover of "Tainted Love" on that record, too.
My least favorite song they play is one where some woman sounds like she's saying "cookie?? cookie??" over and over. It sounds like a song from the 50s or 60s and she has a high pitched voice. I have no idea what she's actually saying.

Hate the songs that go tell me something good and can you go woo woo. more like can you go poo poo.
Is it like ... one station or can they pick? I work early in the mornings and it seems like they play better music at night than later during the day (country music ... gag me!) They play decent rock in the morning.
There was a couple times Cultural Council let us vote on the stations.
These days, management tells us that the selection is fixed and immutable and that everyone keeps bugging them about it.
I wouldn't mind so much if it wasn't less than a single shift of music. There's something like 97 million recorded songs, and we can't even get a couple hundred. All we get is disposable trash like "Best of Intentions" by Mutemath over and over, every single day. Sometimes I think I hear it three times a day.

The service is IN STORE AUDIO NETWORK. Kroger has it because it is CHEAP!!!! In every Kroger store I have been in, they play that same general mix of rock, pop, a handful of real oldies, a lot of alternative, and a number of newer songs that are played enough to drive even a fan crazy. Meijer stores subscribes to the same service, every time I shop there, I recognize the songs... because of their (relatively speaking) TINY selection of songs.
The "BEST of Intentions" by Malemute is played, on the average, about every 4 to 6 hours and this has been going on for at least a year and a half. WHAT IS THE DEAL???? Other songs on the playlist appear randomly, sometimes once a week, sometimes I never hear them for a month and suddenly they will be played a time or two.
The song "TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD" (someone mentioned in another post) is by Chaka Kahn and came out in 1974 or 1975. Even though I do like a number of R&B /Soul songs of that era, that one is EXTREMELY IRRITATING!!!! For some reason her voice bugs me like fingernails on a chalkboard. I just want to scream "TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD!!! : LIKE, TELL ME YOU ARE GOING TO STOP SINGING!!!!!"
Other ones I am sick of hearing: Afternoon delight. Drift Away. Please Mr Please. I don't care who's wrong or right anymore (Aretha Franklin?) .
The whiny-voice singer with the song with lyrics something about just another slice of American Pie (don't know the name of it).
I Will Survive. (Every day for 5 years+)
The song where the guy keeps singing "STAND UP".
Also........ There is one song which I think is older (70s or 80s rock??) and I don't know the name of it. It is the song of which a few opening bars are playing in the intro music on the "Mike Gallagher Show" a radio talk show broadcast over Salem Network Radio stations around the country (usually at 9 AM Eastern). I hate that song. I can't understand any of the lyrics. Does anyone know what song I am referring to?

haahaaaaaa. I thought my store was the only one that played that constantly. we get that song, and "light up" by mutemath every single day too. you're GUARANTEED to hear one of the two songs every single day. or both. i dont even think this band is even relevant as far as youtube views and shazams goes
why is the only good song they play (welcome to the jungle) played so quietly? The other (****) music is ****, then that one comes on and it's really quiet. Little do they know, I'll go hang out in the produce cooler when that one comes on so that I'm able to hear it
Welcome to the Jungle is played quietly? In my store that is one of the loudest songs.
There's a lady in the deli who always shouts out "DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOU ARE?" every time it comes on and someone always responds with "YOU'RE IN THE JUNGLE BABY!".

Either your store has some problems with their speaker system (like the different "tracks" of a song play too loud on one speaker and quietly on another???) or you are being facetious (?). The song is unbearably loud and obnoxious when played at my store.

must be a speaker issue. Seriously though that song is much quieter than others. I'm going to ask my manager about it
