how to stay safe when alone on uscan

hi tonight for the second time in my kroger job of 11 years i felt terrified that a customer was going to try to harm me. back story this customer came in at 11pm at night after my cashier and office person left no bagger either. management left at 10. this customer wanted western union i calmly told him that office was closed for the night he refused to believe me kept trying to get me to do it. i said i didn't have access to office no keys. finally i think he going to leave instead he demands to talk to a supervisor i call a 3rd shifter any 3rd shifter to come to the front i got luck and one of them did come up. some nights they don't hear me when i have to call. 3rd shift guy tells him management is gone no one can help with western union this guy starts getting upset and leaves. the 3rd shift guy tells me guy was drunk or high and to et someone to escort me out . total of 4 people in store me and 3 third shift all of them fairly new less than a yr in i think. so what should i do to stay safe if this should happen agian?

There really isn't a way. I suggest finding a new job.

That's complete f u c k i n g bullsh!t. Either arm yourself (pepper spray and a taser is my recommendation) or have mgment put you on an earlier shift, or just leave and get another job.

I know you're gonna argue that this one is all you have and you can't leave, but really---how you gonna work if you're injured? Or dead?

I see a day coming when retail and service businesses are going to have to either let their employees defend themselves, or have nobody but salaried managers to work those jobs, or hire off duty armed cops. Sh!t's gettin real, and soon, nobody is gonna want to deal with it

This is why I no longer close. I dont feel comfortable working that late at night when most people and management are all gone. There are so many scary people in the world that could hurt somebody.

We actually do have armed off duty cops in our store. Not all the time, but most times.

Kroger needs to be more specific as to the safety procedures after 11PM-our store has a night manager but that is for the overnight stockers that work 11PM-7AM

It doesn't make sense that you're asking us? You go to your store manager and explain the situation. Then you assure them that you are not comfortable being the closer because of said customer, and then ask to be moved to day or afternoon shift. Quite simple.
