WTF IS THAT???

Managers Never Approve Availability
Permalink

I either have a **** manager who never looks at availability and time off request, or they just don't change it anymore. I mean it used to be on eschedule they would approve of an availability change, but they NEVER do that now. It always shows as Pending Request, which means managers never get around to look at that to sign off for an approval. AND I go to school too, I mean I like that I have work but damn....College is a little important than having to show up at Kroger. This can be fixed if they change my availability!!

Ranting about it here does you no good. Go to whoever you need to in your store, present your case calmly, and get the problem fixed. If they won't work with you, quit.

STAY IN SCHOOL.  WORK WHAT YOU MUST IN ORDER TO FINISH SCHOOL.  SOON YOU WILL BE OUT OF THAT **** HOLE WHILE THEY CONTINUE TO ROT AWAY THERE.  I was once in your shoes and know how frustrating it can be, but it will be worth it in the end.  If they schedule you to work when you have school, tell them.  You need to put school first...always.  They can change it but they are being *******s.  It will be okay in the end brother

One more year until I graduate SDSU so you're right. I absolutely do not intend to be one of those Ralphs people who are working there in their 40's, 50's and beyond. This is not the place to be in order to grow mentally and most importantly financially. So I personally laugh at those who may say I'm wasting my time with college LOL. I reply "Enjoy your life at Ralphs then, at least I will be able to afford to live in my own and sustain a life with a strong financial future". But yeah for now, it sucks that Kroger does constantly **** people over. for the people who work here even temporary like me, they suck at giving hours and scheduling people. Many coworkers are frustrated.

The problem is that you have let them know that you are capable of (or are at least paying for) college level work.

That was a mistake.

If you need to call out to attend class, study, or take a test, do it.

Kroger isn't a real job; it's dead end retail hell.

If you get written up, whatever.  If you get suspended, that's actually awesome for the grades.  Invoke your Weingarten Rights and watch the union soil themselves.  If you get fired, Walmart will hire you and is sadly approaching a better company to work for.

That's how bad things are.

Bit torrent that textbook and keep your nose to the grindstone.  Look at your student loan.  Look at your paycheck.  Yeah.

Make a life for yourself.  Every day at Kroger is a day closer to Fresh and Easy.
