What proof do you have to provide the management upon requesting bereavement leave?

If it's out of town, a copy of the obituary mentioning your family's name should suffice.  If it's an immediate family member and it's in town, you shouldn't need proof since your fellow employees will be there in person to pay their respects.

 To be fair, when my dad passed away, I did have some close friend/coworkers who did show up. Those are your real friends there.

 I've been to a few visitations for fellow Kroger employee's family members and I can assure you that every Kroger employee who is also there is there on their own time.

Yeah, i know for a fact they were there on their own time. One even drove from 45 minutes away.

we generally go on the clock.  Get a group together, go at the same time (staggered for coverage of course), don't stay long, but it's nice to go
