Making Sandwiches for Customers
Permalink

I HATE....let me repeat HATE to make sandwiches for customers.  It's too time-consuming.  And having to drag it out of them what kind of meat and cheese they want.  Oh then the ones that want a  WRAP really send me to the moon.  Cuz we usually don't have wraps and ....MORE time invested to have to go tromping off to get the damn wraps.  Lots of stores are getting rid of the sandwich bars.  I keep hoping and praying but it doesn't look like ours is going away anytime soon.  UGH!!!!!!!!!!

After the remodel at my store, the deli stopped offering this service. Sandwiches now come in already packaged and go straight to the shelf. It's clearly the cheaper way to go and Kroger realizes this. Just like the vast majority of cut fruit now comes in already packaged rather than having to provide hours to someone to do it.

Before our store was remodeled there was a sign above the deli that said "custom sandwiches" so we HAD to make them even though we were in no way equipped for it. If someone wanted a sandwich with lettuce, pickles, mustard, etc, I'd tell them to do their shopping while I made it because I had to walk over to produce, then the bread aisle, then all the way across the store to the condiment aisle. I'd also have to  cut the meat and cheese and if it was a busy day I could be waiting a while for an open slicer.

You couldn't even store the ingredients for later customers. We'd try but we didn't get a ton of sandwich orders so by the next time a customer ordered all those things (except maybe the mustard) would be expired.

Fat middle-aged women are the root of this evil.  Put a sign up in your store that says 'NO FAT WOMEN!'

With an attitude like that I'd recommend checking your next sandwich before you bite into it.

Just saying. :)

Aside from all of the usual stuff you put on here you mentioned having a job. A few threads ago you were challenged on that by being accused of spending your mother's money. Can you tell us what job you got? You'll be able to avoid most of the slander thrown back at you.
