Back on the original topic, we don't have a bank in our store, but our service counter got held up right after the morning drop off of cash. Luckily they got caught because a couple of police officers were getting a few things before going to the station. We got our cash back along with dire threats from the criminal to whomever called the police.
I've worked at three Kroger stores now and only one has had a bank. It got robbed. A lot. I see now why most Kroger stores (at least the ones I've been in) don't have banks.
We haven't had a bank for years. I don't believe they ever got robbed. I think our pharmacy got robbed a few times, and our service desk has been robbed maybe once.
They are going to use the former bank area for Picklist.
We don't have an ATM either. That's kind of weird.
I have heard some of the stores in Florida especially the Jacksonville area are moving to get the banks out of the stores due to the danger of robbery. They see it as a liability and their leases are not being renewed when they come close to expiration
The store in Clarksville, Indiana (the only one in this town, on Lewis & Clark Parkway) was robbed twice, in 2011 and again in 2013. Two different suspects, one black and one white. I never heard if either guy was ever arrested or charged. I was told at the time by a bank employee that the guy (in 2013) was someone they had seen coming into the Kroger every so often, not a complete stranger. Both seemed to be sorta "low key" robberies with the man just handing a note to the teller. No gun was involved in either one.......or....... at least they did not display a weapon. These incidents both happened before I started working there.
Does anyone who reads this forum know what happened with either case?? Was anyone arrested or charged? Funny how the news media doesn't have interest (or time) to follow up on so many stories..........they rush onto the next headline, and seem to forget what happened in the past.
