Interesting color photo of the inside of a large grocery store in 1964. (Not a Kroger, but probably a lot like one).   Look at the old cash registers!!  They made the old fashioned loud "CHA-CHING! Sound!   Some of the customers look just a bit annoyed, like they are tired of waiting in line. (Some things don't change much!)

Look closer.

I don't see any female cashiers.

They also didn't have scanners.  Every price for each product was manually entered into the machine.
