This has been the most unprofessional, greedy, two-faced, cheap, lying, dirty, disgraceful company I have ever had the displeasure of working for over the past year and a half. I have filed numerous OSHA complaints, gone to many lengths for getting my REQUIRED sick time by (my state) STATE LAW, made numerous grievances against my store and have yet to be satisfied. I am going to give this one last shot in hopes this horrible corporation will cease to exist.
I have fought with this company during my tenure for my required sick time I never received. I was told a) I must wait 1 full year for any benefit, and b) I was protected under the CBA regardless of my enrollment with a union or healthcare. Make up your mind dimwits. By (my state) law, I should have accumulated well over 40+ hours of sick time, yet I get told to "go home", and I never get sick time when I have a doctor's note stating I can't work.
I also sent in numerous OSHA complaints about the detrimental working conditions of this horrid organization. If our customers knew Half of what happens behind the scenes with their food, they would flock to Wal Mart in a heartbeat. My store manager straight up LIED to corporate to cover their sorry a$$es.
This doesn't even come close to the lottery-styled scheduling with my tenure. With this being retail, odd hours are a given, but I have never seen such crap hours handed out. Having to close one day then open the next with 4-6 hours of OFF time, going Days without working, working Every weekend, working 6 days a week and still be below 30 hours, etc.. I have had to file multiple grievances and lost several shifts due to my schedule writer. And I always get told "This is a commitment you made--get someone to cover or it will be a write-up." I didn't make the "commitment", You did. And I get this "deer in headlights" look when I say "You can't have me xyz because of abc?" Hell, I have been asking to move to another department for well over 6 months, to be told "I'm working on it", then have HR turn around and hire NEW people for those departments.
I am so fed up with this godforsaken corporation, their two-faceness with the customer and associates, and how the outside looks so good to many but few and far between last their probationary period. After such a horrid experience, I will probably Never shop at Kroger again and will happily take my business to (the local competitors) for my grocery needs. Oh, and don't get me started on how far Kroger will go to retain a customer and screw over their associates, and they won't do neither case in regards to myself.
To corporate: I can't even get a straight answer, so riddle me this: what will it take for you to invest in your hourly employees moreso than the 6-figuring higher ups, who only got their way up through nepotism and favoritism? You have the highest turnover rate of all companies. The Union doesn't even protect those who pay into it!
Signed,
A pissed Kroger employee, and a FORMER Kroger customer
My "feedback" I gave during and after my recent resignation with the company. This was also posted to my chain's corporate and Facebook pages. :)
TL:DR: Kroger sucks, and if you're reading this, you (most likely) already knew that.
wtf 40 hours of "sick time"? Since when? You get 1 week's vacation for 1st year of service. I'm not sure what other sick time you're talking about.
Sanitation is going to be the same no matter where you go, do you really think walmart would be any different?
That said, you're good to get out. Better opportunities are there!
I live in a state that shall remain nameless where the employer MUST pay out sick time at a rate of 1 hour for every x hours worked, up to a maximum of 40 a year. I was told this straight from the Industrial Commission "You must be getting sick time--no exceptions". I never accrued, nor was able to use sick time, and Kroger hid behind the Collective Bargaining Agreement for our union local. And yes, I was smart enough to use my 1 week vacation then told my dept manager I'm gone after my vacation, leaving them to scramble to cover 30+ hours for the next few weeks. [=
It's not the sanitation I'm super irked about, it's the fact my SM lied to the state and the corporate office portrayed Kroger like some sort of saint when that couldn't be further from the truth. I would post my complaints/kickback I got from my OSHA and IC, but I don't have the software or time to do neither
Edit: For whatever it's worth: I was also never a Union member, making me not covered under the CBA, to be told it applies to my job title vs union membership. This was also never stated to me.

"This was also posted to my chain's corporate and Facebook pages." The "corporate" page you posted to (easily found with a quoted search of an excerpt of your rant) was an unaffiliated site that lists corporate headquarters and accepts reviews of a bunch of different companies. Chances are literally nobody in the chain of command is aware of it. And I couldn't find anything on the Facebook page, presumably they deleted the comment. Which you should be thankful for since it was no doubt posted under your real name which would have then been easily linked to your pseudonym on here.
