Depends upon your manager. I assume safety first. Let it pass then just be a little late. Even if a little is a lot. When the Seattle area had snow for 4 weeks our supervisor was absent form work for like 2.5-3 weeks and never got termed or written up. Depends on how easy going they are.

Your safety ALWAYS comes first. That being said, thunder and lightning can be scary but have a very low chance of actually hurting you. If it's raining hard then it's better to ask if you can wait for it to lighten up before going out in it, as long as you're not going to run out of carts. Policy be damned if you feel unsafe then don't do it. Your life is worth more than the pennies you're being paid.

I'm not the person who wrote this but a) you'll get soaked b) cart strap = metal lightning conductor c) carts = metal = lighting conductor. Why bother even showering for the day when your shoes are swimmingly wet. **** the carts. Let it pass.

At our store, no one is allowed to be outside doing cart duty while there's a thunderstorm out. Doesn't matter how much the customers complain there's no carts in the lobby.
