Those of us who work the front end were affected because several of us ahd to work a shift by ourselves because of him scheduling someone he KNEW was out of town. This is in the Local 1996 union area

Depending on the way the request was submitted, they might not have seen it...or known what it really was. I know too often people put "time off" as an availability request and do not select the correct time frames. If they would have done "MY Time Off", the "?" that appear all over the scheduling screen should have been quite visible.
I have a FE Manager whose daughter is getting married next week or so. FE put in a request for it and they STILL scheduled her to work that day EVEN THOUGH she's in the wedding party. Well, my FE told me that they're gonna be shorthanded because she is NOT coming in, NOT answering her phone unless it's a wedding guest, friend, or family member. I'd love to see the reaction on their face when they realize shes not coming in.

Either the manager or the asm. Our asm is known for scheduling people to work even though they have a doctor's appointment, or in this case a wedding engagement. He even scheduled me to work even though I had a doctors appointment. So, I went to my doctors appointment (they were not answering their phones so I said "f*ck it. I'm going to my appointment." I went and asked my doctor for a note to show that I was at the doctor's appointment. Asm wasnt to thrilled, but I told him no one answered the phone and that it would be stupid for me to re-schedule and pay for an appointment I didnt even go to, and i wasnt going to do that. Yeah...he didnt like that i said that either.
I know someone that, back when she was a clerk (back before i even knew her), was scheduled to work on her OWN wedding day, now that's bad. She actually came in because she felt like she had no other choice, and closed her department on her own wedding day. Now that's pathetic that the company would do that.
That was happening at my last location. Once they started to get my medical claims for denying my time off requests to see my dr they changed their minds. My off work health issues all of a sudden went to small claims court because I was unable to see my dr for health check ups for my condition(s).
