I rang up all her items. And when it came time to pay, she had a check. I informed her that she may need her ID. She told me that her ID was in her car. Okay. So I tendered the check. Register asked for an ID. I was feeling generous, and just asked her if she knows her ID number. She wrote it down. I typed it in. And... denied.
I told her the news and she immediately changed her tone. Suddenly she was dramatically upset, and had an immediate urge to leave the store. So much so, she left her plus card and her check. Normally I hand back the denied check. When I chased her down to hand her back her plus card, she kept running faster.
Whenever someone tells you their ID is in the car its a scam.......... Who only carries a check without their ID, Debit Cart or Cash....? Its just like the customers that will cause the POS pinpad to error...they are up to something shady.
