On the west side of L. A. county the pre-employment background investigations have mostly been completed well enough so a great number of new hires can have their rights officially lost forever (if you have copies of proprietary agreements they need to be published but do not get caught). Surveillance for life has commenced. As soon as the company has the new contract many of these people will start to be very sorry. No employee is ever allowed to discuss concerns with anyone but management knows the value of communication so every employee has been informed that if a strike is called they will have the option of coming to work anyway, because "it is your choice". As in, 'i have a gun on you, so whether you hand your wallet to my partner is your choice'. That is how they want your to feel.
Because that would mean confronting someone face to face, and Millennials and gen Z are generally too weak to do anything other than complain on the internet.
In general, we should strike because every contract is significantly worse than the last. On top of that, neither the store nor the union have our best interests in mind.
You can't talk to the union rep if they don't pick up the phone. It takes at least a week to get ahold of someone around here.
