So today I got chewed out by my CSM because a customer called and chewed her out because she forgot a bad with 2 things she paid for

Apperently thats my fault she forgot those 2 things.

Personal responsibility is dead I see.

I say if you bought those things, after you've paid, those things are your responsibility now since they're your property, not mine.

Kroger is a stupid company and is going downhill if this is what they really think. My job discription is not "babysitter for grown adults"

At our store, provided you reshopped the things she forgot, we would invite her to come back and retrieve the things she forgot, free of charge.

Not understanding what your CSM is getting mad about. People forget their paid groceries all the time.

Frontenac is right. Customers can either come back to the store or not. And does your CSM do this often? I've seen it happen.

Nope. This is the first time this has happened. I've had customers forget stuff they bought many times but Ive never been lectured/scolded over it until now. Though it seems my CSM is getting worse as time goes on.

I think its ridiculous and maybe they;re telling peop;e the we need to do more ass kissing

First I would like to point out that I've worked for Kroger for over 30 years.  That being said, I have to agree with the customer.  I'm assuming this was at a regular checklane and not self-checkout.  One of your main responsibilities as a checker or a bagger is to make sure the customer has everything they paid for.  Now if they leave an item in their shopping cart while in the parking lot, it's their fault.  However, if you are handling the customer's groceries either scanning them or bagging them, it's up to both the checker and the bagger to make sure the customer leaves the store with everything they paid for.  It's like when people order multiple items from the deli and bakery.  It's not the customer's responsibility to make sure they receive everything.  It's ours.

I am so glad that I reached the magic age of 65 and could retire from Kroger. I retired with 32 years at the last of January 2019 because i Could not take working at Kroger anymore. Kroger was not my Kroger I started out with 32 years ago. i was on the frontend and you could sat the groceries right in front of customers and they would still forget them. Customers were never stupid like they are now. I would say in the last five years people are crazy. Kroger believes customers more than employees. I do not regret retiring but I feel for the people who cannot retire yet because I could see it was going to get worse and I think I was getting burnt out.

Exactly it is your the bagger or cashier responsibility. Don't like me saying that? Suck it up buttercup! I have been in this for 25 years. If you go to a fast food restaurant they get your order wrong. You get home and realize. Is it your place to check before you leave or their place to get it right before they give it to you? I go to Taco bell allot they get it wrong all the time. Someone told me I should check before I leave. But I feel it's not my place.
