The front-end supervisors and managers at the location I work at as a cashier are not on the same page regarding the constant evaluations being done at work.
There are supervisors and managers who are happy with the job you are doing, but then there are supervisors who are not happy with the job you are doing.
One supervisor wants a courtesy clerk who is a burn victim to be more engaging with the customers.
The cashiers and courtesy clerks are supposed to be putting specific labels on the big items that are not bagged, yet those labels are not available at each register.
This makes it difficult to do your best job.
How should the front-end employees deal with this?

They shouldnt care. No labels? oh well who cares. Burn victim? Say okay and continue to do whatever it was he was doing before.
As long as the burn victim cc is saying "hello", "need help to your car?", "have a nice day", that should be enough. Be courteous and friendly yes. But there is no real need to strike up a lengthy conversation with them about random things.
