Well, you know what they say about the grass always being greener on the other side of the fence. Actually though, I don't have that problem. There isn't any other job in the store that I would want to be doing.
Movement, schmovement: order 2 1/2 months' worth; we'll just leave it in the Grocery freezer. (We have our own freezer, but it's small, and why should we clutter it up with our backstock?)
Our shelf holds half a case (allocation), we sell less than a case a week, and we get three deliveries a week? Well, of course, order THREE cases. It'll sell . . . eventually . . . and we'll let the backstock clutter up other folks' backrooms 'til then. (Why should Deli be inconvenienced by bad Deli orders, right?)
We would come see what we actually have, but, damn, it's cold in there, so . . . we'll order two more cases.
Enjoy our perma-pallet. (It's not in your way, is it?)
I will admit it. A few weeks ago a manager called me up to the office and gave me the line "You're starting to show the potential I knew you had. Just a few more times and you'll prove you have what it takes to become a leader." Then asked me if I wanted to bake 2 days a week. I told her yes. The next day another employee told me she was going to be trained to bake. That she would be baking 2 days a week. Although I'm happy for her it made me jealous. It also pissed me off that the manager basically set me up for disappointment.
I wanted to get scheduled during a store walk day, so I could tell corporate what I really thought. Oh well, now that I'm a customer I'll just show up on a walk day, hehe.

Maybe you're both going to trained how to bake. There needs to be at least three people who know how to bake in case one of them is on vacation. Also, being asked to bake has nothing to do with being a leader. It's just another job.
Yeah if it was me, i'd want as many people who are available to bake to know how to. I wish I had another backup baker right now but instead I am stuck baking 2 days a week while one is on maternity leave.

Oh honey I know that it has nothing to do with being a lead. That is justsomething the mangers say to try to get me to work different departments, I figured that out. When I first applied to Kroger 3 years ago, the position I applied for was bakery. I was just hoping to finally get the position, I applied for.
I do wish they would stop using that, moving up thing, with me. If they need me in other departments all they have to do is say so.
