Who the hell is telling you that Kroger stock is a good thing to buy?

I think you can buy stock thru payroll deductions at least that was the way it was handed when I was hired. If you can't do that, contact any stock brokerage and they can help you

You never know, this management restructuring could actually work.

Log into your Merrill lynch account. If you're confused contact a rep and they can assist.

I know kroger stocks may not be the best thing to invest into but its better than investing into nothing at all.

Please don't make Kroger your first choice.  Their stock will be a trap like their 401k.  Check out sec.gov to learn more and see if you can track down legitimate ways to invest.

The Kroger employee stock purchase plan is commission free. However it forces you to use market orders at the time of the payroll deduction and when dividends are payed. A better option is to buy stock using limit orders to get it at a better price than a market order.
The following brokers offer commission free trading:

https://robinhood.com

https://www.schwab.com

https://www.tdameritrade.com/

https://www.webull.com
