Do you know how to make football bread?  I've been able to avoid making it for the last 20 years, but my luck has run out.  The store manager wants it for Super Bowl.  Do you use Italian bread dough?  I have an idea as to how I would make it but I'm not sure if it's the "Kroger" way.

Thanks

Who cares if its thr Kroger way?

Is it football shaped bread? I would make a sample, and present it to your manager. If they like it then go head and do that.

Lol. I have avoided it for 8 years.

My luck may have run out. My new store manager is probably going to complain about us not having it tomorrow.

The way i know of uses rye and pumpernickel. You shape the pumpernickel like a football and use pieces of rye to make the laces. I've never actually seen it be done though.

Thanks.  Tomorrow I'll look at the ingredient label to see what type of dough it is.

I care to do my job the correct way. You sound like a real lazy slacker. If you can't give helpful advice then kindly stfu.

OP here.  I didn't post that last response in case anyone was wondering.  Anyway, according to the label, it's suppose to be made from Italian bread dough.  I tried two different approaches.  In both cases though, I put the loaf in an oblong aluminum pan and molded the pan around the bread so it would maintain the football shape.  Otherwise, it would just spread out and just look like an oval shaped loaf of bread.  For the first one, I cut a little bit of the end of the loaf before I shaped it and used that to make the two stripes and the stitches.  I didn't put them on until after the loaf had already proofed.  I was afraid if I put them on in the beginning, they would disappear into the dough when the dough proofed.  The second loaf I just cut the stripes and stitches into the dough.  That was a lot easier and less time consuming.  Unfortunately, it didn't look as good as the one made with the strips of dough.  My manager wants me to make more tomorrow.

I'm not a slacker @sshole. What I suggested us that all the OP had to do was make a football shaped bread. It's not rocket science. And yes, if it's not the Kroger way, who cares? If it sells like it's supposed to then the job has been done... we made it at our store and it all sold out in 30 min so we had to make a new batch.

This is why kroger sucks now with garbage lazy worthless associates like this. People who matter actually care but since youre at a dead end position making 6.50 an hour its no surprise with your attitude. You're a failure at life.
