New hires, No hours!

I get why they are hiring all these new employees. I mean with COVID19 going on, people calling in, and people taking LOA. We need somebody to cover those shifts and those hours. But when those people return or everyone actually shows up it is screwing the ones who don't call in or do work. They should add hours if they are going to hire new people. I mean add like 20 hours for each new person they hire. They are the ones being hired to cover the call in shifts. They aren't being hired to take our hours away from us.

I mean my life is adjusted to the weekly income I have received  (32-40 hours a week) since I started. My bills won't get paid if I get less than that.

I was fortunate enough to get locked in this February before this whole virus thing popped off in the USA. It was like perfect timing. It was a relief knowing I was locked in after hearing how more people would be getting hired soon during the pandemic.

The company can schedule you what ever hours they want. Hours are not guaranteed in a part time job. New hires don't get squat for hours. New hires got screwed three contracts ago. Since then Kroger can't keep people more than 1-2 years at best. I didn't see more than 28 hrs until 1.25 years. Even then I had to trade in one of our small country stores for a higher grossing store. Then I got all the hours I wanted. Some times you just need to start saying "If some one calls in or you need extra help I'm first call." I did that at first to get more hours and people with more seniority than me were getting pissed but hey they were offered first.

When you are considered full time you are suppose to locked in. I've been considered full time for over 2 years. They aren't suppose to give me less than 32. I'm being scheduled 20.

You should have  filed a grievance the first week it happened.  File one now with the union unless you have already lost full time status.
