Pay cut after transfering?

Hello all! 

So my new HR Secretary had me fill out my work experience again, is this normal?

I was already employed at a King Soopers and transferred to a Kroger.

I got a nearly 30% pay cut... From 16/hour to 10.75/hour.

 

Is this normal?

If it's in a different district then yeah but if it's in the same district and local then no, file a complaint. I'd file a complaint anyway, honestly.

 The company doesn't have a consistent wage scale across the company.  Each UFCW negotiates within the differing divisions on clerk wages.  When transferring your wage isn't guaranteed because your basically a "new hire" within the new UCFW your joining.  Your experience credit form will basically allow you to hopefully gain back your previous wage in the new Division.  When transferring you only keep your hire date, not your seniority starts over in the new Division/UFCW.  I really don't understand why all the UFCWs haven't make it a standard contractual line that when transferring within the company all seniority is reciprocal.

Probably because they can't, or aren't willing to, verify the seniority. I have a feeling that it was in the contracts long ago and got negotiated out to appease the company. As for wages,  It probably has to do with minimum wage and cost of living differing across the country. $20/hr in California isn't the same thing as $20/hr in WV, for example. It's just easier to "start over" and credit the current rate as experience pay, which we all know is bogus.

 Good point.  Minimum wage here is $10/hr.  They could at least give $1 an hour experience pay as the sign at the door suggests.

 

Question for original poster:

What is minimum wage where you currently live and what was minimum wage where you used to live?
