The so called Coin Shortage
Permalink

I've seen a lot of confusion and have had many questions about this change shortage and how Kroger is handling it. Let me clarify:

#1) it isn't really a shortage as much as it is money not being circulated because of restrictions in the bigger, more populated states

#2) it is not Kroger's fault, this is a national issue and it is affecting all major retailers.

#3) Kroger Is Not Stealing your money. Your change is being put on your Kroger plus card and is taken off the total of your next order.

#4) the Kroger plus card is a shoppers discount card and not a credit/debit/gift card. There is no interest on the card. It is just

like when you download coupons on the Kroger plus card.

Retailers that use a shoppers card have a huge advantage to handle this in a shopper-friendly way. I assume the other retailers are

putting the change on gift cards, so you can carry an 11 cent gift card around that you will most likely forget to use in the future,

until you have 17 gift cards that have a total value of $2.37 and you get to hold up the line running them all on one order.

It is Krogers fault. The coin shortage is a lie and a scam. You associates are so hard up for money youre literally stealing change from customers. You associates are dishonest despicable sacks. Get a second job if youre that poor thief.

It's sporadic. Not sure if it's a corporate, regional, distric or store by store thing----only that it's illegitimate. Neither the feds nor banks are behind this bullsht.
