Only one person can make schedules

In the store I work in, if you need to change your schedule or even talk to someone it's only one person. I had a scheduling issue to discuss  yesterday and only the operations manager can talk to you about it. Even our HR director can't talk to me. Operations manager was off yesterday, and I am waiting now to call in to talk to her this morning. This is how it usually goes, she's never around when you need something but she's always these to remind you to say HELLO & THANK YOU. I think my time with Kroger is ending sooner than later.

At my store whenever we have a scheduling issue we talk to main management, if they are not there, we talk to the ASM. If they are not there we talk to the PIC or FE. then they relay the message to management if we cannot make it in to our shift. And of for some reason the PIC/FE is not there we leave a note on the manager's desk for them to read. I even take pics of the note on their desk to keep me in the clear.

For dept workers, they leave a message/note for the dept manager.

Update: Talked to operations manager, said she is more concerned about next weekend (Easter) than the week itself, doesn't think she can accommodate my request for extra days during the week, but will "see what she can do tomorrow" wish me luck

Every department has a designated schedule write. If they're mucking up your shifts contact your union rep.

Yes and no. Kroger is migrating to a system where perishable depts schedules are done by a store manager, FE, pickup continue doing their schedules and grocery is supposed to do all of theirs and drug gm

I just heard that we are going to that system soon.  Only 4 people in the store will be able to edit the schedule.

I don't have many details but your outline makes sense.

This how I interpret what you posted:

Store Manager writes Service Department schedules(perishable).  Produce, Meat, Murrays, Starbucks, Deli, Sushi, Seafood, Bakery and Floral.

CSM writes, Scan, Cashiers, Fuel, Courtesy clerks and Utility Clerks schedules.

Pickup Manager(salaried position) writes pick up schedule.

Grocery Manager writes schedules for Center Store (Grocery, Frozen, Dairy, Liquor, Receiving and GM/Home).

So how is that suppose to work when different people do different jobs. In the bakery department we have one person who knows how to bake bread and one person who knows how to decorate cakes. The others can only do things like bake cookies and pies and package and label stuff. I bake bread five days a week. So I have a set schedule. It took me 25 years to get a set schedule. I don't want it screwed up.

In my opinion, your schedule should not change.  The question, is the manager going to know how to write your schedule correctly?  The manager/auto schedule will probably write the schedule believing that everyone knows how to do everything in the department.  Even I know that I do not know how to decorate a cake.  That is why I do not work in the Bakery...

I write the night crew schedule currently according to my needs.  I am supposed to press a button on E schedule and it is supposed to create a schedule.  And then I am supposed to tweak the schedule afterwards using graphs and charts in E schedule. It schedules all kinds of crazy start times.  So, I have been writing the schedule manually for the last 5 years.

I can't wait to see how this roll out goes.  Should be like everything else that gets rolled out.  "Growing pains" **** show.  Take something that works and screw it up.

Our schedules in our store got messed up real bad. Even our closing MOD's got f'd up and he had to go to our store manager to get it fixed. Schedule had me on vacation this week-and according to the store they had me scheduled this week. It's all messed up. Was told schedules are no longer on Feed-how are we supposed to get them when they are posted on Fridays?

Did you still opt to go on vacation? That's what I e done when something happened like this in the past. I was scheduled for vacation and the scheduled got messed up and I got scheduled. Whilst on vacation my phone kept ringing NON-STOP. I had to block Kroger for the duration of my vacation. I came back to work with a resignment paper waiting for me. The resignment paper  did NOT get signed and I had a copy of the original schedule. I showed them the copy and went to work. They were dumbfounded but not happy. They could do nothing.

But they NEED to have a reliable way to make the schedule..

How long would answering the phone take and letting them know?

You're right. It wouldnt take long at all. But it's more better to not answer and make them madder and madder. Do you have texting? Why not text them a copy of your schedule if you have taken pics? Text the pic or management if you have their number? How long would that take?

Wow!! Right again! Not that long!
