Post Info TOPIC: This job is not going to pay enough for me to escape my abusive household

This job is not going to pay enough for me to escape my abusive household
Permalink

I don't know how any kroger employee is able to saved enough money to get out of an abusive household. I was hoping to leave but pandemic hit. I pay rent.

My relative is abusive even in senior stage of life. Both physical, emotional, verbal abusive. I don't care about their age...as long they are physical abusive to their offsprings...whom they rely on. Senior aging parent still the same even as kid.

I am trying to escape, but kroger hourly wage is not helping as I hoped. And some people know I grew up in unhealthy home. (Few know,  its dysfunctional)

-Anyone wanna share or shall I say "feed the human spirit" via commenting?

No such thing as feed the human spirit lol. Whos the senior you? Poison their food. Arsenic or anthrax works well. call the cops? buy a trained attack dog at the first sign of yelling or raising a hand that dog will be ready to rip them to shreds. Love with some one else? Oh well, sounds like a fake post

Why are you placing the blame for you living situation on your job and its pay? If you ask anyone, they will tell you they should get paid more. If the money isn't enough, find a new job.....
Also, are you saying you still live with your parents or older relative, is that again your jobs fault?

Remember others before you and others currently get paid the same amount and can figure it all out. Are you helping yourself out? Have you tried to become a Department Leader to make more $$$?

Either it's an post for someone or anonymous. Don't know why you're asking too much questions. Sounds like kroger manager.

Haha, everyone has their own opinion, but no one is forcing anyone to do a job and or only settle for your current pay. If your not making enough, or fell you should make more, let your Manager know. After that look for a high paying job, its quite simple. If your in a abusive household there are places to seek help, not everything is your jobs fault.

Get a better job.  Pro tip: that's most jobs.  Even McDonald's pays significantly better.

And if you get a job that has a regular schedule, that makes it much easier to hold a second job.

You can try the "gig economy" if you have a reliable car, but that's not terribly profitable.

Do you have any other friends or  (sympathetic) family you could stay with or move in with?  Are any of them out state?

Your post indicates your level of understanding and knowledge.  With your logic, guess your birth certificate reads anonymous?

I'm in that situation.

My husband almost killed me 3 times by strangling me.   He's controlling and emotionally abusive.  I lost my entire career of over 20 years in Accounting.   Now I'm at Kroger with zero confidence.  Zero support ad a cashier with CPTSD.

What people don't understand as they judge us is that it's very dangerous to leave.  There are no homeless shelters now as it's a long line to get in.  It's dangerous and you cannot run out to the streets with a controlling higher level man who owns you financially

While you are belittled by the abuser, often you are incapable to move up and even look professional while you are hiding in fear.  People make fun of you when you look nervous and judge when you have a broken glasses, tooth, shaggy hair, gray hair.  You can't even look human.

I used to be successful until I got married to Dr jekyll Mr Hyde making a life damaging decision to allow this man to push his way in (he was aggressive).

exactly!! See thats what eu-ass hole-Id unknown doesnt get. If a woman inna relationship like that tries to leave the significant other might actually kill them. The OP could be scared out of their mind if they were told something like that. Covid is still a thing shelters might not pack as many people in as normal then what? You gotta love it though when some one like that moron thinks they know the situation so well.

Just shut up, quit whining, give us some kitty and make us a goddam sammich from time to time. Failure at those simple things is almost 100% behind why we read posts like these all over every where these days.

You are in the wrong place if you want to escape abuse. The moment we go into actual recession it will be easy to hire and this company will go into full slavery mode. Very abusive in every possible way. You need to be working somewhere else.

I recall reading a thread on r/kroger as well. You people need to modify your stories some if you don't want to be found out.

I like many of you have had to work two p.t. jobs my entire life until recently. You may have to do just that if you want to save enough to move out. Work for kroger 20 hrs a week for health insurance and pick up another job that offers more hrs. Give your self one day a week of, two if you're lucky and go from there. Unless you find a 20/hr job you're going to have to get two p.t. jobs to make ends meet. If you really apply your self in the grocery clerk pay scale you can work to jrnyman pay in 2-3 years at full time or more. Yes if you're not picky about hrs you can easily get full time. Every time people bit--ch about hrs being low, I can easily show them how to get 45+ hr work weeks no problem. You're going to have to really apply your self if you want to work hard and save enough up to move out. If you're house hold is really that abusive, work your @$$ off and save, save, save. If it's really that bad at home, hell I'd be at my second p.t. job.

I highly suggest that your parents do not have access to any of your income. Have your bank account totally separate from theirs not even opened in their name. Remove them completely from your funds. This way it'll secure your income so they don't mooch off of it.

If it's like really bad you can bunk with a friend, cousin or other family member until you can save up enough to move out. Yes reality sucks and unless you're in a job that pays the big bucks you're going to have to apply your self hard at the lower jobs until you can get out of them. Very few people cut a break and get lucky. Jobs that pay well: medical, computers, programing. Yes like you I started in minimum wage p.t. go no where 20 hr a week jobs because that's all society offered when I graduated high school. When I realized my parents were going to cut me off soon I buckled down and got a second p.t. job to make ends meet. Yes it sucks you'll fight with scheduling but if you're lucky one employer will be willing to work around the other. Kroger at least lets you set your availability restrictions in esced. And my p.t. jobs were back when minimum wage was $5.45/hr. (Yes I'm dating my self.)

So...

After reading through your replies to threads.... What are you going to do? Suck up a toxic home or get a job that pays better to get out of the house? Or get a second p.t. job and work your @$$ off. Those of use who have been in this industry and are 15+ yrs into it, didn't start higher up we worked towards it. You young folk just want everything handed to you these days. Face it the world doesn't work like that. Occasionally you'll get a small percentage where fate guides the stupid but the real world is harsh and doesn't just hand you everything. Not in this type of government.
