Good lord how do they expect employees to live on 25 hrs a week? I've always gotten full hrs the week of Christmas and the week after. Both weeks I got 25-30 hrs each? Good f* Dear kroger: I do not want to go back to a second pt temp job to make ends meet. You need to decide if you value your long term staff or not. And frankly you don't and never have. I have noticed a lot of staff are uncomfortable with the merge and have gone back to school. He'll I'm turning my recently earned AA into a ba or masters. It's just a paycheck job no career.

Normally hours are up at this time of year. September thru to just after Christmas are busy times but you have a lot of newbies... Then hours plummet and everyone quits. It's surprising if they've cut hours so much already.

According to my local union contract, the minimum hours per week that are allowed to be assigned is 12.

You are working more than twice my local union minimum.

You are a union member, aren't you?

Hey, the corporate big wigs have to get their bonuses for the year.  My department leader was told to take 28 hours out of next week's schedule.  We have five full time people and one person who only works one day a week.  That's it.  Three of the full time people are scheduled 32 hours.  Any work they do over 32 hours is overtime because the 8 hours extra holiday pay they receive counts toward their work hours for the week.  The other two full time people still get the 8 hours holiday pay but they can be scheduled up to 40 hours just like a regular week.  The 8 hours legal holiday pay doesn't count toward their work hours for the week.  They don't get overtime until they work over 40 hours.  Management wants those two people's hours reduced to 32 hours next week.  They'll still be paid for 40 hours (32 hours + 8 hours legal holiday pay), but if they have to stay over one or more days, they'll just be paid straight time and not time and a half.

I generally average 37 hrs a week and all of a sudden I'm down to 3 days a week of 6 hrs shifts. Or they'll do the opposite and make me work a 6-12 day work week then be a dick abt it.
