Phone conversation between me and crazy lady on the phone:
Me: Bakery, may I help you?
Customer: I'd like to order a strawberry crunch cake, and can you write on it?
Me: We can't write on a strawberry crunch cake because of the strawberries, but we can put a Happy Birthday pick on it.
Customer: A what?
Me: A little plastic pick like the kind we stick in cupcakes.
Customer: Well can you write on it first and then put the strawberries on?
Me: No, because the strawberries would cover it up.
Customer: Well can't you just put the strawberries in the corner?
Me: Ma'am, it's a round cake and the strawberries cover the entire top.
Customer: Can you just make me a plain strawberry cake then?
Me: Ma'am we don't make a strawberry flavored cake. The only strawberry cake we have is the strawberry crunch cake.
Customer: Well I guess I'll take that then.
She comes in the next day, and luckily I'm off, and throws a fit because that's not what she ordered and she knew I would screw it up. She said I refused to write on the cake cake and I said nothing about not having a strawberry flavored cake. Both lies. There's a big difference between saying you can't do something and saying you won't do something. The bakery manager told her the exact same thing I did. The people in the bakery said she was a nut.
And another thing, if you're going to ask for something in bakery, learn the exact name of what you're asking for, including the brand name. Do you realize how many types of bread we have with the word "French" in them? I had a lady the other day ask for a cinnamon focaccia. We don't make a cinnamon focaccia. Yes, you do. I get it all the time. It comes in an orange wrapper. Do you mean the St. Pierre brioche bread?
When I ask for a specific bread you damn well better get it. Especially if I say I get it here all the time. keep sassing and youll get reported and reprimanded by your manager! Customers are ALWAYS right!
