I just have a question im 16 and work as a bagger and there was a guy that was lying on me saying I was gone for 30 mins and I was working my butt off that day while he was slacking off. And when I was on my break we were texting back and forth to each other arguing about it and I said if I get in trouble for this im going to hurt you. Well a few mins later my manger came up and told me I was fired for that but I did this off the clock on my messages and said that I was not even going to talk to him at Kroger and other people have done this same thing and threatening to beat each other up even coming up to Kroger while the other one is worked big to harass them. Long story short should I have gotton fired for this? I did contact my union memeber and she did say she would help me.
Were you fired for texting at work or threatening the coworker? Never put anything in writing that you do not want everyone to see. Always keep texts with coworkers civil and respectful.

Yes, you could be fired for threatening coworkers on or off the clock. You need to be cautious about what you say now a days with all the shootings happening.
Both should have been fired for either case.
Friends at work may not really be your friends so choose wisely what you say to anyone.
