About 5 years ago I was successful in filing a grievance against our FES/CS rep. She was forced to transfer to another store. I see her LinkedIn page and she has a completely different job for the past two months. What info can Kroger give out as to reason for leaving, any disciplinary actions, etc? I was told that only dates of hire and last day worked were the info that could be given.

You were told correctly.  The reason an employer can't say anything else is because they can get in trouble for jeopardizing a former employee's chances of getting another job.  Besides, even if they were a lousy employee, the next job might be perfect for them.

Kroger uses theworknumber.com .

It has basically everything except for disciplinary information.

If they like you and want you to prosper they will say what it takes, secretly. If they want to bad mouth you any way they like to hurt you, secretly, they will. They are plenty paranoid but always testing to see what they can get away with. Discerning future employers will understand that you are simply well rid of them.

There IS one way to get around this: All you have to do is ask "Is this person eligible for rehire?" If they say no, then you've got your answer. I used to work as a receptionist in HR depts-this was used all the time.
