Every store I've worked at has had a handful of these individuals that just barging hunt or found ways to live off of them. I kept asking our manager on the rules of these and they said just get me involved. Me translating it as "I don't care." No, sorry barging hunters but I'm done with this group of people. If you're living that tightly on a budget you need to rethink your life. Most of my coworkers and I can not afford to shop at the store we work at and have found ways around that. If I have to pay full price for an item you have to too! Enough!
We can get in trouble for marking down too many things for you.
We can get in trouble for putting too much in the red tag bags.
We can get in trouble for marking things down not within the nth date range for mark downs.
This is a service for customers not an exploit. I'm not loosing my job because of you people. No, I'm done with this.
Why are you marking stuff down that's not due to be marked down? I have no problem people telling people no when they try to abuse a privilege.
Our problem is were getting so much produce that is turning out to be bad or of questionable qualityMoldy, fuzzy tomatoes, wrinkled peppers, soft avocados, terrible-looking citrusYouve got greens freezing on trucks, citrus greening disease affecting the Florida oranges and who knows how long some of this stuff has been waiting just to get to our store, depending on where its trucked in fromAnd then, if you add any possible tariffs on anything coming from Mexico, look for those items to get more expensive with the customers paying more for lesser qualityEither way, if we dont sell it, it usually ends up scanned out and in the Divert bin, but Id rather us make a sale on what CAN be salvaged, rather than nothing at all
Still, at the same time, people asking for markdowns on items that are not even remotely close to being bad or outdated? That has to stop! We always have something for everyone on the markdown rack, but you have to accept whats thereUsually, we sell what we do put out fairly easily and you add onto that, marked down holiday items that are well past the holiday and were giving people a real benefit hereIm only expecting quality to get worse and prices to get even more expensive, so we have to do what we have to do!
