Manager hired an pea head in the department. Apparently, the employee does not know how to communicate, no critical thinking,  asked the manager "can I go to the bathroom?"

This employee works in an department that requires critical thinking. Is this equality or DEI?

Here's what happened.  Twenty years ago.  People used to really fight for department head positions.  You had to have a lot of experience and seniority to get the job.  You were resposible for your own ordering and displays.  Corporate decided that they wanted to control everything.  The first thing they did was implement Key Retailing.  That was micromanagement at its finest.  It came in waves and you got inspected each time.  The first wave you might do something one way.  The next wave you might do it a different way.  None of it made any sense as far running a department efficiently.  It was all about seeing how many hoops they could get you to jump through.  It kind of reminds you of what happened during the manufactured covid pandemic.  Then, Kroger decided that they were going to take over the ordering.  When something went on sale, Kroger decided how much you needed, when you were going to get it, and how much you were going to put out.  Many department heads either retired or found work elsewhere because they got blamed when Kroger's methods didn't work.  Employees who were moving up in the ranks saw this and decided not to pursue department head positions.  So Kroger had to start looking elsewhere to fill those positions.  Kroger then decided to invest in the Zebra devices thinking that anyone could do the job as long as did their counts and did what the Zebra said.  Let me tell you, the Zebras are totally useless.  So the reason they're hiring unqualifed people off the streets for these jobs is because nobody wants them.
