My coworker smells funky and refuses to bathe properly, nor wear deodorant and management won't do anything about it. They keep using half affed excuses to not approach the issue. Sales have dropped in our department because of it. By 3 hrs into his shift you can smell him like really smell his bo and armpits. By 3-4 days into his work week he's like really funky smelling and frumpy looking. Despite our company requiring higher standards out of associates management refuses to do anything about this. I suspected for a while but he also refuses to wash his hands after using the restroom and like a middle schooler pees all over the damn seat then walks off. He's a grown man and does bs like this. He's failed every secret shop and been coached and written up for multiple things and only has like one more away from being terminated. Despite multiple write ups he's never been suspended once and despite being dismissed from department twice he's still being allowed to work in it. How the hell is this individual still employed?
I've worked places that wouldn't allow someone to so much go two days without bathing and if you smelled funky or started having complaints from staff or customers left and right, you'd be talked to about it. You'd be expected to improve and actually adapt to your job duties instead of refusing to do the 30 minor job duties of your job that you refuse to do. He thinks he does a good job but in reality is not doing a good job. He only does one of his job duties and our lead won't coach or work with him to bring him up to speed to where he should be and he's been in the position over a year.
Bs like this is what has pushed me to get out of this industry where you have to work with grown aff men who are mentally no better than middle schoolers.
I stopped buying food from my store because of this, sales are ligitly down in our department and management keeps saying "bring in more customers". No, wake up and realize why it's this one guy and management is too damn blind to see it.
My coworker is finally one more write up from termination. Despite being numerously protected by management the past year so he could retain employment. If you haven't learned to adapt to a retail job 3 years into it and learn what the company wants you to do and you've been severely underperforming -- well that's your damn fault for not learning, growing and adapting. It sucks when union jobs won't let people get fired after union representation kicks in. So you have to deal with these lazy people that can't quite cut it and will push the system to the extreme. It take 2 damn years to terminate someone and usually they end up canning them selves due to numerous write ups or policy violations.
He started causing high shrink in product due to failure of rotating. This caused a massive fruit fly outbreak all damn summer.
He's failed every damn secret shop he's had.
He's started having massive customer complaints due to his "unfriendly" behavior.
Staff are tired of showing him how to do his other job duties nth number of times and the dummy isn't getting it.
He refuses to assist customers and just passes them off to the closest staff member then uses "english is my second language bs" despite having displayed very good english skills over the past 3 years. You work customer service job and it is required to interact with customers that is part of the contract you signed.
He's started to commit time clock fraud by over extending his breaks and we're all sick of it.
He's started complaining massively about the schedule and he's still classified as full time but full time to him is 40 hrs a week if any bit is shaved off he's mad like really mad.
The list goes on and like I said he's a grown man with the mind set of a middle schooler. Grow up. If you haven't figured it out by now you are not going to figure it out. The union can only protect you so much. You seem to change jobs every 5 yrs or so and I'm seeing why. It's all you and unless you begin to change, grow and remove the negative behavior keeping you from advancing in your career, well have fun working minimum wage jobs with little to no advancement your whole life.

ASSociates have smelt like sweet sweaty stank ass for years now.How are these people getting hired? Do they bathe for interview day and after that just dont wash for days? Or maybe they come in all dunked and the interviewer is so repulsed they say okay your hired just to get them the hell out? Its worse in the summer time cause the heat makes them smell so much worse! they dont bother to wash and brush their nuts or asses! Their stench can have half the store smelling like wet ass and you can tell the front end is getting blasted cause they all look miserable and some have puke faces going on. Management needs to step in but one manager said their smelling like wet dripping ass fumes is a disability and they cant do anything or its discrimination???? More like disgustin! do better ASSociates and wash!
