It happened before I got there (my shift started at 5PM)-turns out someone p****d her off. She said "I am done." Shut her register off, grabbed her things and walked OUT.

Was it a customer or an employee?

I am hearing our store manager "was in the area"-I have had issues with that particular manager also so I am not surprised

Grocery isn't for everyone and I've almost done that a few times. If I didn't have money in a 401k I'd do that or would have several times.

Customers can be frankly aff holes and disrespectful karens. It doesn't help that the company caters to this group of customers with "yes mam/sir, we will kiss your aff and make sure that happens." regardless of how affinine the request is or how many lies the person told to get their way. I left my last store due to a customer hara$$ment situation.  If I didn't need the job that badly I would of walked.

It doesn't help that kroger could care less about the mental well being of its  workers when they just up and walk.

Not surprised this happened due to the toxic work environment, customers have gotten worse and worse to deal with and karen actions are deemed normalized by society and workers have few if at all rights against them, low pay, shi---ty schedules, hour games to push people out, lack of career growth, favoritism in career growth.... toxic managers.... skeleton crew pushing people to exhaustion which leads to mental stress/illness physical injuries and illness....

Many times I would have liked to have walked but it changes a little when you need to protect your pension. While I don't have a sizable pension any little bit ads up. Even if I begin to transition I still need to leave on good terms.
